Quebec Reds are rising !!
I heard that the ice went off the lake on Saturday, so I make the split second decision to go on Sunday. Had to go solo since my usual companions were busy. Too bad. The sun and light breeze made being on the lake a joy. Paddled around from 8 AM 'till 3:30 and managed two nice ones. Might go back la...

I've caught one bowfin in Constance Bay. Not in city limits but they are in the river, despite what the authorities say.

Quebec trout season
Hi,
Was up in la Belle provence today and the guy was saying the trout opener has been changed to April 30.
Just looked at the MNFR website and couldn't find anything.
Anybody got a clue?
Thanks

Re: Canoe fishing
When trolling I just use 2 small wood clamps. One on each side of the canoe. Clamp 'em onto the gunnels and lay your rod down so it won't get pulled in when you get a hit. it's then close and easy to pick up to land the fish. Here's a pic, but you get the idea. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c282...

Re: Going Fishing in New Brunswick (First time in the Atlant
In this case Michael, I think Google will be your friend. If I were you, I'd phone some local New Brunswick tackle shops and ask them what's going on at that time of year. I know trout will be in full swing. If lobster season is still on, the boats will mostly be busy fishing lobster so will not be ...

Re: Fishing Mishaps
Here's another one. Thursday May 5, 1983. Dad, my buddy Bob and I paddled and portaged into Algonquin Park as soon as we could after the ice was off. We fished Louisa the first night and managed a few decent lakers, but that was not our ultimate destination. Another day of hard work got us to String...

Re: Fishing Mishaps
I can see it now Mike. that's how you learn. :D :D Reminds me of the time I was in Algonquin Park for the May 1 trout opener with my dad. We were camped on an island and had pulled the canoe well up the bank to the campsite and turned it upside down for the night. The wind came up overnight, and I g...

Re: Fishing Mishaps
Was fishing with my dad in back lakes of Algonquin Park. We were doing well, and I asked my dad to let me off on a rock point to cast while he fished from the canoe. As he was paddling around, he managed to tip the canoe and floundered about in 3 feet of water. We collected all our gear, including m...

Re: A Message from the New Guys...
Man, I must be spending too much time doing something far less important. I had no idea this was going on. If came here and found Fish Hawk gone, I'd be pi$$ed. The old 'you don't value of something until it's gone' scenario. And I do value it!!! I was disappointed when the hunting portion disappear...

Re: flouro to braid knots
I go with a tiny swivel between the braid and fluoro. A palomar knot on both sides.
Then you can downsize to a tiny snap at the lure/hook, and jig all day without getting twisted line.
