There is a public (free) launch right in the village of Ivy Lea, just past the Capricorn Motel on the right, this is a government launch small but free. You might have to pay for parking or go to the restaurent free parking lot.

I fish out of Ivy Lea a lot in the summer, (Kayak fishing) My son has as resturant there in Ivy lea. (Smugglers)_ so for me it`s great, Lunch and free parking. It`s nice to fish around the islands lots of sm and pike.

We were on Dog last wednesday, good ice at the deep holes in the north end. Splake were slow but steady. We fished in 38 to 45 feet of water. Real good ice and safe 12 to 15 inches.

You could try a war surplus store if you have one handy. Look for a canvas case with ice saw and snow knife for making a snow shelter they shouldn`t be too expensive. The saw is about 2 1/2 feet long wit rugged ice teeth.
