I agree with Cancatchbass, I have successfully used a hard wax used for waxing cross-country skies (for icy conditions i.e. the hardest wax) to lube the poles. I have also heard of others using candle wax or paraffin.

I do not have a PC at home so I Fish-Hawk talk from the office.

I voted for 4" but 3" would do if it is black ice and I am not alone and wearing a PFD.

Wow some of you have impressive amounts of fishing time, lucky.

I fish on average every Saturday (52 days)
2 weeks holidays for ice fishing (14 days)
3 weeks in the summer (15)

So I guess on average 80 days a year, this year has sucked probably closer to 30 days.
