I agree with Cancatchbass, I have successfully used a hard wax used for waxing cross-country skies (for icy conditions i.e. the hardest wax) to lube the poles. I have also heard of others using candle wax or paraffin.

None of the above. I have several Dave Genze rods from Berkley which are great. But most of my rods are custom made by myself, blanks from Loomis and the best blanks I have come across I got from Thorne brothers in the states. They also sell ready made rods, not cheap but you get what you pay for. h...

Hi Seaweed I will email them. Yes Bassmasters would be worth watching again on T.V. So would Infisherman, Ron Linder’s Angling adventures, Babe Winkleman etc, basically any American TV show. I would also welcome some Brit fishing shows if they were on BBC. I personally despise Canadian fishing sho...

I voted for 4" but 3" would do if it is black ice and I am not alone and wearing a PFD.
I never thought I would say this but I would be happy to have 4" :?

Hey beardieman123

Ask you local tackle store to order it for you, in this day and age anything is a click away.
If you local shop will not help you, shop elsewhere! No just kidding, well sort of.
If no luck PM me and I will tell of a store that can order you anything!

Wow some of you have impressive amounts of fishing time, lucky.

I fish on average every Saturday (52 days)
2 weeks holidays for ice fishing (14 days)
3 weeks in the summer (15)

So I guess on average 80 days a year, this year has sucked probably closer to 30 days.

Ice conditions at Petrie Island

The ice is very unstable on the Crappie bay according to a fishing buddy. :( There is still water between two thin layers of ice and will not support us. The road is a skating rink and with 20 cm of snow coming this evening it sounds like it will go from bad to worse. This to me is a major l...
