There is 13" of black ice and 2" - 3" of white ice. There are several shacks out there already and people are driving trucks and cars out there. That being said I'm not saying you should or shouldn't drive on there I'm simply reporting on what I've seen since Friday.

Glad to hear this round of treatments are coming to end and good news to see you are doing another event at Lebaron's. I went to the one last year (I think it was last year) and it was packed full of great info. If you guys get the chance to make it there it will be worth the trip.

The ice has started on the Rideau near Smiths Falls. I tested it yesterday with my first soaker of the season. We should be able to fish in the next couple of weeks. Need more cold weather.

I would suggest finding out what options you must have and then work within your budget. That seems to be the deciding factor 99.9% of the time. They both make nice units.
