I have a buddy who RAVES over crisp cajun...
Yup. That is how I cooked my crappie from this trip. I threw in some walleye and pike I had left over from winter. Add nice cold beer and serve.

It was me plncrzy was out fishing with. I think we fished for about an hour and a half. We had a good time and I think we did pretty well considering it was the first time either of us have ever fished for crappie. It will not be the last!

That is an awesome motor....very dependable. Every time I have been to the Caribbean, 98% of the motors have been Yamahas. The locals are wide open every where they go and I am sure those motors see little to no maintenance. However, if you plan a slow troll for the lakers you may wish to bring an e...

Since you troll a lot, I would get the 4 stroke for sure. In a 14 footer a 25 2 stroke may not idle down to your preferred trolling speed. My neighbor has a 16 footer with a full floor, live well, etc (fairly heavy) and with the 25 Yamaha 2 stroke it is always on the upper end of where we would like...

Be there before sunrise if you can. I have had my luck between sunrise and 8:00am on most lakes. I have also had good luck with small minnows. I would definitly have a small minnow with a small hook on your tip-up. Often I just fish with 2 set lines with minnows. A sonar will help with depth if you ...

You will have to call the park office at your access point. Make sure you call them directly and do not rely on The Algonquin Park Information office. The last time I was in the park I was told the access office closed late (9-10:00pm can't remember when). We got there at about 8:00pm and they were ...

I will be in the park May 6 - 12th this year. We had fantastic luck for brookies in the fall just before the season closed. Hopefully we can duplicate that. I have never been to the lakes you mention. You may be able to find some information if you search through the trip logs at this site: http://w...

We were fishing for Lake trout last year when the same thing happened. A lake trout pulled the rod out of the holder and down the hole before anyone could grab it. As we were all scratching our heads and cursing, it swam around two of our other rods and ALMOST dragged them down the hole too (we figu...

I went fishing when I was in Punta Cana in October. We chartered the whole boat for $500 for 4 hours. It was a rough day and a few of us we not feeling well (myself included), but no one threw up. Although I did come pretty close when I went to the head. I thought the big swells were making me nause...

I definitely take a back to basics approach. I also carry my ice fishing gear in a 5 gallon pail and also use that as my seat. Though I do occasionally steal my buddy's sonar when he isn't looking. :) In the summer I spend a lot of time canoeing and most of my fishing is from a canoe. No electronics...

That is too bad you lost both trout. What lbs test line were you using? BTW, we ran into the same OPP officer on Mackie Lake on Saturday (I assume it is the same guy). Myself and two buddies were on foot and walking back to Tooleys lodge when some of the other guys from the lodge came over. One on a...

So, how was the fishing?

I fished Mackie Lake and Camp Lake on Saturday with zero luck. Not even a fish on the sonar.

I have wanted to try Mosque lake myself. I will be interested to see your report after the weekend. I camped and fished at Redhorse lake a few times this summer. I tried for walleye around sunset most nights and I never got a bite. The bass fishing was okay at times (OOS for you now anyway), but not...
