plncrzy is right. You started it, and you guys are keeping it going by trying to get the last word in. No doubt you will respond to this with another stupid comment.

Lets get back to fishing talk rather than stirring up crap.

Lets remember that plncrzy has dedicated 20+ years of his life to weather forecasting. He has spent months away from his family, years (plural) living in the arctic, and made a lot of sacrifices along the way. Maybe you should think about that before cutting down what someone does for a living. Wha...

You can buy commercially harvested wild walleye or lake trout in the supermarket. You can buy farmed brook trout or rainbow trout. I know you can order wild brook or rainbow trout in restaurants. Why is bass so special? I understand it is always thought of as a sport fish, not an eating fish. Correc...

To give you another perspective, here is my report from last year. It may give you an idea of some of what you may have to deal with weather wise on a trip. http://www.fish-hawk.net/hawktalk/viewtopic.php?p=282881&highlight=#282881 Also, the map on this website is an excellent resource. This fre...

I agree. That is a crazy trip plan, especially for a first time trip and especially for early May. I did Opeongo, Proulx, Big Crow, Hogan, Lac La Muir, Merchant, Happy Isle with Plncrzy a couple of years ago. The fishing wasn't great, though that may have just been our luck. What type of fish are yo...

Waterproof your gear! With night time temperatures below zero, getting your clothes and sleeping bag wet could be a very very bad thing. Get your matches wet at the same time, and you are in real trouble. The cheapest route is this from MEC: http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3...

I own two canoes, a Swift Kipawa (which is my main tripping boat) and a cedar strip canoe I built myself based on the original Chestnut canoe plans for the 16 foot Prospector. Anyone that thinks a canoe cannot handle big water should watch some of Bill Mason's videos: http://www.nfb.ca/film/path_of_...

Just get a medium action spinning rod / reel combo. You should be able to get a decent one for $50 at Canadian Tire / Lebarons, etc.

It will be enough to get you started.

Well done guys. Those are quality fish. I was in the Long Reach area Saturday and we only caught little guys. 4 of them between my buddy and I. We missed many more, probably because they were too small to take the lure / minnow. Only one was worth keeping. We saw a couple of nice walleye caught, but...

EGB spoons and Panther Martin spinners are my favorite. Gold or silver with some red works well. Also fluorescent green works very well for some reason. In lakes look for weed edges or drop offs. In rivers / streams, try pools below rapids and try just above the rapids as well. Sometimes they are ri...

A friend of mine has a cottage on Eagle Lake. We have caught some good sized pike in the past, but he said they haven't caught any large ones in a few years. I have seen pike 15lbs+ caught in that lake, but that was quite a few years ago. We are planning a weekend there this winter once the ice gets...

Algonquin Park has a ban on ice fishing and there is a ban on using minnows (live or dead). This includes trapping minnows in the Park. As we all know, Algonquin park has some pretty amazing trout fishing. I am sure there are other places in Ontario that have similar rules. Maybe other provincial pa...

I heard about this late last wk. I bought a locking pin at Princess Auto last Friday just to be on the safe side. My son and I have been launching at Grasshopper point and was surprised to read that some locals have issues with launching here. Not to sound paranoid but from now on I will carry a ti...
