Bear Season @ the HellBear
Only 12 days until opener. We've been working hard in the woods and have established 5 sites this year. It's crazy, but despite the hunting pressure we put on the bears, we have more bears this year then any year past. Just a great mix of bears of all sizes. http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm180/...

Re: Spring Mineral Sites
We've transitioned our spring mineral cams to deer hunting sites now. We had 1 new mineral site fail and we had a busy spring at our faithfull mineral site...and accomplished what we wanted. We wanted to monitor the big buck from last year and we got loads of pics of him. http://i296.photobucket.com...

Re: Food Plot Updates
This hot dry spring and summer put a stop to any plans we had with the plot face lift. We decided it was too risky to till and reseed, so we let the vegetation go for another year and just kept it trimmed. And I'm glad we did. It never rained for 45 straight days and the plot would have been baked. ...

Re: Beat'n the banks for big bass.
27" to keep. That's crazy. What is cosidered a "trophy" down there Mark? To be honest...there really isnt a trophy standard here in NS. I agree with whats already been posted though, 45IN's would be a trophy in my books. Everyone oves to see a keeper, and past that there's some bragg...

Beat'n the banks for big bass.
I got together with a few close friends and headed to the river for a day of stripe bass fishing. We picked a spot to try and arrived late morning to an out-going tide. We started casting with 10IN powerbait worms on 3/4 ounce jig heads. We picked up 3 doing this and then the action died. At that po...

Re: Food Plot Updates
It's definately worth it. :) We've take 3 bucks off the plot, but rarely hunt it. It was made for the doe's and the fawns. We felt if we could improve their food sources, it would not only increase our fawn recruitment, but would attract a few bucks around too....but doe heath/numbers and fawn recru...

Food Plot Updates
We're re-doing our food plot this spring. I made a trip in yesterday to check the camera. Despite the poor food mix growing there, we've had 4 different deer in during the past 10 days. 2 does, 2 small bucks It's tought to see what they're browsing on, but it jus looks like random fresh green grass ...

Re: Opinions on boats wanted..
I've fished out of a lot of boats and I only own a small jon boat for trapping and hunting now. If I was to get back into the boat ownership game and fish seriously again, then without a doubt I'd get a big Lund liller set up and put a casting deck in it. Simplisity and low maitenence would be the w...

Too be honest....boat numbers went way up once Birdee was in the boat.fatluke wrote:
Glad the weekend continued to be successful for you, but I guess that is expected when you have RJ as a guide.

Quality fish for sure. It's not easy to be consistant with bigger pike in that area, definately a sign you've got it figured out. Good fishin.

My Crappie Long Weekend With Gar-J.
My annual spring highlight is always the long weekend visiit with RJ and Birdee. I missed it last year because RJ and I went to great slave lake instead, so this was the first time I got to enjoy fishing out of Rob's Lund. That in itself was a treat and I felt spoiled every time we dumped it into th...

Want something that works great and is easy on the pocket book, Water Softener Salt. Pour it into a stump or hole in the ground and they will lick the stump and dig up the ground. Works great as no chemicals and all natural. We've used it before and had good results. My only issue with it is there'...
