Re: Learning my tackle
Hi, This used to be one of my favourite lures before I started spending thousands on fishing tackle (I hope my wife does not see this) Yes just slide up the spring and attach anything. My 2 favourites are; 1)add a small treble and cast with a light spinning rod to catch any panfish. This is great fo...

Re: Drop-shotting: Two techniques, one outcome (SUCCESS)
This year I gave a concentrated effort to drop shotting and to speed up my learning curve, I tied on 2 hooks. One about 2 feet above the sinker and one hook between the top hook and the sinker. I caught most fish on the lower hook but did catch some on the top hook. I am just wondering why more peop...

Re: fly fishing
Try Shirley's Bay near the end of Carling Avenue in the evening.
Very wadeable if you stay to the left and you should hit lots of 12 inch smallmouth which are very exciting on a fly rod.
It is a sandy bottom and no current if you stay left from the parking lot.

Re: sketchy characters
Thanks,
Always good to know about this sort of person.
I was at Blair Road launch yesterday in the afternoon and he was not around.
By the way the launch seems very hard packed but I would still suggest a 4 wheel drive to launch a heavy boat there.

Re: Pistol Grip casting rod, anyone use one?
I have had several and love them. I can cast with one hand and not worry about losing the rod. I will only use a cork handle as that is what feels right to me (I also hate the split grips and the one piece will be coming back soon) It is often difficult to find a rod with the pistol grip handle that...

Re: Transporting a canoe
The foam blocks always worked great for me. Use non stretch rope, the MEC straps or the rachet straps. Make sure the front straps are pulling the canoe forward and the back straps are pulling the canoe backwards. After the canoe is tied on, give it a push from either end to make sure you have it rig...

Always nice when the "unusual" fish is a trout.

Re: Campground recommendations
I spent a Friday night at the municipal campground in Iroquois last weekend in May. The campground was very quiet, extremely clean showers/washrooms and $25.00 for the night. However there is a railway track about a kilometre away and the trains woke me at 3:10 3:20 and 3:45. Not sure why there were...

Excellent offers from both Shawn and Ed.
Baitcasting 101 from Ed would be excellent.

Check with the watershed Conservation Authority that you lake drains into; ie,Rideau River, Mississippi, or Madawaska.

Re: Does anyone else see something wrong with this? (MNR reg
I think it is just like many other government programs; the original idea is good but then once it is in place, it is not what it was set out to be. Just like "Grey Power" got many free perks for people over 65 and now the government realizes that half the population will be over 65 soon s...

Re: My first boat launch
Hi, Always check the wind speed before going out. http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/71628.html From that you can decide on where you might go. ie east wind of 25 km or higher stay off the Ottawa. Depending on where you are, a south or north wind just blows across the Ottawa river so there ...

Re: Kitties
I use the dandelions as a signal too but yesterday I was talking to a neighbour and mentioned that the dandelions were not up yet. Today I was at my daughter's place and was shocked to see there were lots of dandelions. Then I realized that in my neighbourhood with all the landscaping companies work...
