Re: Morrisburg - Shore Fishing Access

Hi If you just go straight down Bank street from Ottawa (Hwy 31) all the way to the St Lawrence at Morrisburg, there are the municipal docks in Morrisburg. Excellent launch for 2 motor boats at a time and even though it is opening day, it should not be too busy. I cannot remember if there is a fee f...

Re: Bucket List Lakes, Rivers, or destinations???

Mine are pretty simple and attainable if I get off my butt and just do it.

I want to try some of the small trout lakes relatively close to Ottawa.
Maybe even use one of the 3 fly rods that I have.
Fish for barbout (which I have never done)

Name the Fishing Clubs and Competitive series in Eastern Ont

HI, RJ's post got me thinking about something I have wanted to do for a while. Every year most of us have the goal to get out fishing more than the previous year but we often do not achieve that goal because life gets in the way. The best way to get out fishing more is to have a fishing schedule on ...

Re: Recommendations for ultralight for panfish

I use a 5 foot UL for all small fish including when in a boat and catching walleyes.
Lots of fun on UL and if you drag is good, it can handle very large pike.

Re: Shore fishing Luck?

Last night on the way home in the dark I saw some frogs crossing the road. If that means the frogs are headed to water for the winter then there is a real good evening (just as it gets dark) bite for walleyes along shorelines. When I say shorelines I mean right next to shore in 6 inches of water. Ca...

Of course I have tried the Styrofoam and they were way to light, if there was any wind
You will need some weight too or they take off on you.

Re: duck blind etiquette

I remember a long time ago someone told me that the blind builder has exclusive use of the blind on the opener and maybe the next Saturday. The theory being that most people hunt only the opener. Due to that "rule" I often hunted Lake Mississippi on weekdays and back then there were probab...

Re: Bring out a child

My Dad took us for "hikes" hunting partridge when he even carried the smallest kid on a pack on his back. My own kids loved " being dogs" and going through the bush/tall grass at the side of the trail to flush the birds for me. I know they were younger than school age when they s...
