Re: Cormorant Cull
Moved to Brockville 6 years ago and I could not believe the lack of fishing traffic upstream and the lack of fish on the sonar. Then I read a post by a local fisherman saying that even when he scuba dives he sees minimum bait fish. Guess we can join the dots and figure the fishing is not what it use...

Thank you Corvus. I noticed that CT has Berkeley rods for around $60.00

Best bait casting rod
I am not sure if a medium or medium/heavy bait casting rod is the way to go for the following applications. Rat and frog fishing over scum, swim baits, and worm fishing. I also would like to be able to fish bass in deep weeds in say 10 feet plus of water and hope to jig deep for lake trout.I am just...

Need help for possible bait casting combo purchase.
The only bait casting outfit I have is for flipping. All my other rods and reels are spinning. As someone who fishes for bass, walleye and pike primarily, I can't help but feel I should have another bait casting rod and reel combo but don't know what kind I should get and what purpose would it serve...

Re: Bass gan-redhorse-singleton lakes
I can't give you much on fishing this piece of water but I can give you a heads up on the shallow rocky structure that awaits you when going from Singleton to Redhorse. The flow goes out of Singleton into a long stretch leading to Redhorse. This connection can be swift and low depending on the time ...

Re: The Value of Large Walleye
It is shocking to listen to some of the old timers (with respect) on how great the walleye fisheries use to be. Also could someone set me straight on what appears to be such an abundance of walleye fisheries in the USA like Michigan and Minnesota. It seems that they have a jump on us in their stocki...

Re: Little Rideau Walleye
There was a thread here sometime ago that said basically walleyes are generally not targeted west of Buritts rapids on the Rideau system. That will give you some idea.

Loughborough Lake
I have never fished in this lake before. I understand it has both small mouth and large mouth bass. I see the lake has two quite different depth features. Which end of the lake (northeast or southwest) would I have the best chance at catching both species. Would the launch near the bridge be the bes...

Re: Back from Bassmaster Classic...
Wonderful play by play description on your other threads. Felt like I was there (well kinda) and could sense that as professional as the two people you marshaled were and yet just down to earth good people no matter what happened and what was at stake. Would be nice to get more of this by pro's to s...

Re: MILLE LACS
Perhaps I am not saying it correctly so here goes again. By Rideau system I am talking all the way to Lake Ontario and all the lakes, ponds channels etc. From what I gather from some older fisherman some of those lakes etc use to have lots of walleye. In fact one of the resorts on these lakes still ...

Re: MILLE LACS
By say Rideau System I am including anything west of Burritts Rapids as well. While it is nice to hear about incidental walleyes being caught I want to get a feel for those who target walleyes west of Burritts Rapids.

MILLE LACS
Just heard that Mille Lacs will be a walleye catch and release fishery this year. Makes one wonder why we haven't done the same to bring back the walleye fishing on the Rideau System. I caught a small muskie on a small stretch of the Rideau River 2 years ago and a home owner was thrilled . They said...

Looking to hit the Big Rideau in a couple of days for smallies. I have never fished them this late in the year. Any advice would be appreciated.

Where else could I have searched?
Spent a wonderful day on the Big Rideau. But the catch ratio was way down. Other than flipping for large mouth; what else could I have done. I did more driving than fishing. I searched for bass both largies and smallies off ever point and hump i could find. Looked in anywhere from 5 feet to 65 feet ...

Deep water suspended bass
I want to start to fish more off shore and need advice on how to find and what techniques I can use to catch suspended bass down 20 feet in say 40 to 60 feet of water.
