It didn't really ruin that days fishing but a few of those that followed were put off for a while (I was using my dads boat at the time). Well, here's the story; I had decided to drive up to the old family home and borrow my dads boat and do a little fishing on the Ottawa. Georgous day, bright sunsh...

catch and release...who needs it?
There is something that strikes me as somewhat desquieting or even obscene about the photograph of all those Crappie with Mr. Parker and guest. However, to play devil's advocate. Is it possible that it's just one of, let's say, four people to catch crappie on his charter? The reason I say that is be...

Re:Port Hope for Salmon
I thank you one and all for the information you've volunteered, I'm sure it will be helpful. As to that 9 foot rod (or longer); where in Ottawa can a guy purchase such a beast? I won't need the reel as I have enough of them for everybody and their uncle Bob and spooled with anything from 4lb test mo...

Port Hope for Salmon
Hi folks, I've been asked to go to the Port Hope area by my brother in-law and his two young sons (9 & 11) this coming weekend to try for some salmon. However, this is something neither of us has any experience with. Does anybody have any advice? We'll be fishing from shore (I'm not sure where)....

little cedar lake
Hi Pchilli1, If it's the one near Messines (and beside Big Cedar Lake) I went there once many, many moons ago. Caught a couple of decent smallies but nothing else, allthough I did hear there was some nice pike in Little Cedar. I've fished Big Cedar Lake a handful of times for lakers (fair-good for l...

Rideau pike/muskie
Planning on trying the Rideau near the 416 this weekend.
How is this area for pike and/or muskie?
I've never actively targetted Muskie but have caught a handful of small ones (under 15lbs.), and raised a couple of larger ones.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Thanks for the info Salar. :) You don't know if there's a place to launch from closer to the island do you? I checked Google maps, and it looks like a fairly long boat ride from Stonecliff/Mackey to the island across from Bisset Creak in a 12ft aluminum with a 9.9. Have you actually fished that stre...

Walleye, crown land camping spots on the upper Ottawa?
Looking to have one last good kick at the can for Walleye before the snow flys/fly's/flies/whatever! Anybody know of any good spots on the Ottawa above Pettawawa, that also has crown land that I could pitch a couple of small tents on. I could also sleep in the back of my truck but I'm going wi...

Stop fishing
When I die I'm going to be cremated, and have my ashes dumped in the Ottawa river.
So I guess no matter what, I'll still be fishing in one form or another.
