I wouldn't want to risk getting in trouble over a fire. What I do is take a small portable cookstove, like Coleman makes, out on the ice. It doesn't throw heat like a fire does but it allows us to warm up soup, tea and the like. And it is nice and portable, cause I too carry everything out on my bac...

My Dad has something similar, but an older model. He doesn't use it icefishing because the heater and tank are too much to pack into the lake on foot. But in the garage it throws off some good heat. Useing the refillable tanks is good if you are concerned about the environment. And, if you have an e...

I'm guessing the difference in taste has to do with the differing forage types in the two lakes. Perhaps some "research", followed by a taste test is in order...

Some More Carp Action

Greetings All; My buddy and I took advantage of the great weather last night to go carp fishing in the Rideau River. It was a fun evening with three fishing landed ranging from 6kg to over 12kg. I landed the big fish of the night which broke our 12kg scale. It was 36” long and we didn’t take a g...

Hey 'Bass'aria - corn is my bait of choice

Tsoukan - I have never eaten any of the carp I have caught over the years. I always seem to be letting them go to grow bigger. I know in some European countries carp are considered a fine meal, but I wouldn't know how to prepare them.
