I know there are particular ideas of what works when, size , bill length, line type etc. IMHO fishing is NOT like that at all. a deep diver is a must for diving deep?...but then again no...all you need is a weight on your line and your fave lure will get down there. I was there this last weekend at the Blind Anglers International Tournament the bite was on..we caught maybe 13 or so pike and three decent walleye my blind clients caught their share too..trolling spinner rigs with a power bait on it..It was truly a wonderful time.. the pike size was down this year...

Yes , on the Ottawa many of the good walleye are shallow....
all year round.

Grab pikebehind thegills.. USE a jaw spreader or you will not get in the pikes mouth for long if he/she wants to close mouth.. use exteneded handle mechanical fish hook disgorger with the little jaws on the end that open and close... you can use good pliers etc but IMHO the jaw spreaders are mandatory
