Jig Head! LOL - you got me.

Joco - thanks for all of your feedback. (as always, there to offer advice and help).

Sounds like you've got a really good plan there tip-up. Tow-ability is a very good point.

See you on the....water.

Yeah - I've been thinking about it, especially when I'm marking waypoints on my gps ;) ...and the gear of course. This is my year for a new shelter. Need to figure out if a clam or fish-trap is best...would like to get your opinions Andrew seeing as you've spent a lot of time in a clam but sounds li...

Sweet - thanks for the report. It is comforting to know that you don't nail a 5er everytime out. The 3.13 does look a little skinny. Question - when you think the fish have gone deep, would you sometimes head out there looking for them? It looks like you stayed shallow on this day...they stil...

slop - one heck of a post! Your writing is excellent. The comment about the fishing laughing at your technique...my worst nightmare. Sometimes I get the last laugh, and sometimes I feel like a real fish comedian out there.

Great report - nice to see you "on board". Bait casters definitely have their applications and make tossing bigger lures around a lot of fun.

Pike > 5 lbs = elusive
Pike < 2lbs = not elusive enough

Have a good fishing weekend.

I've been chasing this bass for 3 years now.
As Swamp-Donkey said, I'd like to hear the story behind that. Do you figure this fish was holding in the same area? You had previously seen or hooked the fish?

Bobber - very admirable fishing! Those are some beauty eyes thrown into the mix.

When you do get the 5'er we'll have to celebrate. Man, some of those must be close. I can see you kicking yourself, wishing for a few more ounces!

Yes, I agree and would like to highlight the use of the word ignorance, and I mean ignorance as in the lack of knowledge. A lot of people just do not know the significance of these big fish; I for one have learned quite a bit about proper handling procedures, conservation etc. from reading this site...
