"Goin fishing" GTA area on July 4th, wanna join?

Hey everyone, I haven't been out yet this year for pike/bass openers, and off tomorrow July 4th, have a car, thinking of going to one of the Kawartha Lakes from shore (no boat) or can rent boat split the costs. So if anyone wants to join me in fish hunting, PM me ASAP If anyone willing to take me al...

I have to say the fight is not a strong fight..but they will run you up and down the shore line and across the fast moving current and make you fall on your @$$ and get your chest wader full of water and drag you down the river praying for the cold water to stop numbing your %#@*& and be able t...

Hi Fresh Fish, If you are interested in only catch and release there is a section of the Credit River off of Highway 10 near Caledon that is artificial, one barbless hook only (no trebs). Trout unlimited has a section of river designated around the town of Inglewood. There are brown trout and brook...

Can't really help as I've never targetted trout but...out of curiosity, how do they fight? I've caught a couple of river trout, they don't compare to smallmouth but like any fish they hate to be caught  as for lake trout I've only caught one, by mistake or luck not sure, but wasnt fishing for...

Definitely hit Shelter Valley early in the season, that is usually when the best fishing is. I would suggest a pre-season scouting trip to the Grafton area to find some good spots to fish. If you check some bait shops in the Cobourg/Grafton area they will be helpful and you might even be able to ge...

I agree with Almontefisher about Shelter Valley creek. I have had some great fishing there when the run is on. :) I don't know what your vehicle situation is like as that can be quite limiting if you don't have one. :( You should try the Lake Ontario board of this site for some help. I know in year...

From prev post I got new Bass rod, but I can't wait till june to try it out, my medium action rod with spinning reel, should work fine on river trout the only problem is that I've never fished river trout, don't get me wrong I've tried and caught a couple but that's it. So I'm thinking of somewhere ...

So overall Shimano is the top reel? Every guy will tell you something different, shimano will definately be one of the most expensive, but in my opinion the quality of their reels is really second to none. Ask most of the seasoned guys on this site, if you can afford to get a Symetre (Or Stradic :D...

Hey Freshfish, You should be able to pick up the new diawa regal for that price range, if you're doing a lot of casting cheap spinning reels tend to wear out their bail springs, daiwa reels have the toughest bail system I've seen. If you've got $75-$120 I'd suggest shimano, but under $60 I'd stick ...
