New motor which came with a boat and trailer

Well I'll be back on the water soon after all. As it turns you can buy a good used engine for the price of fixing an old used broke engine. In my case an '86. The replacement is 2003 merc 75hp 2 stroke on an 87 maxum bowrider with a matching trailer. All for the price of a rebuild. The boat is a lit...

My broke boat

Hi Mike thanks for the PM. You confirmed what others have said. For me its a toss up between buying a good used or fixing it. At the end of the day my motor is an still an '86 even after a rebuild. I'll keep lookin' for a good used until until i make up my mind to fix it or not.

75 hp merc with a bad top cylinder Happy ending!

The engine is a 1986 4 cylinder. Does anyone have an idea based on experience what the cost might be to fix something like this? I’d welcome comments from the mechanics out there as well.
Thanks.

Kicker motor control

Looking for advice about what kind of set I should consider. I've heard there is a bar set up that connect the kicker to the main motor so you steer the kicker with the main motor or just go with a long handle extention and hang out at the back of the boat. Any experience with either?

Thanks

oil gas mix

I found a couple of web sites for you to check out. I read that it might say under the cover of your motor. Anyway check these sites and more oil is usually better than less. :)
