Hi Steve, From experience I would strongly suggest stacked wood blocks. Here's why: - if the lower block gets fozen in, when time come to move most can still be removed - cinder blocks will break when you try to hammer them out. - too often large wood blocks are left behind when huts are moved becau...

2007 fishing licences are in!

The 2007 fishing licences are in. Note that the regs are being revised but are not yet completed. Until further notice from MNR, 2006 regs apply.

Ice fishing tackle is also in. Lures, rods, skimmers and a lot more

I was thinking of the docks in the bridge channel. Don't need to drill, water will stay open well into January. Same off the docks at the ramp. After you can drill... Depending how things work out, for next year am actually thinking of installing huts on the docks for the winter season. This way you...

Here are my thoughts: - we do have people that have stopped to ask about going out. To all of them we have said that we would not but ultimately it is up to them. - the fellows who were out did not ask. They came to the shop to get some bait and mentionned that they were out. - my announcing that ic...

Until the ice comes in, everyone is welcome to fish off the docks. The fingers were pulled in on the weekend, during boating season we don't allow it but at this time of the year, they are available! Will need to pop in at the store to get the gate opened mind you, can't get much safer than this.......

No reports back yet...but there out there again this morning....I do know that walleye is still very good as we have had boat launches and good catches, crappie bay is not much of a walleye spot though.

Well, for the record, the first holes were punched through and the first lines dipped today in crappie bay at Petrie Island. The ice is only about 3" and the shore is very fragile. I would caution anyone going out there to not go alone and to be prepared. Even better you may want to wait a bit ...

We have had a first ice fishing of the season. All the warnings are very accurate. The shoreline is very fragile and we only have three inches of ice in the bays. Note that due to fragile shore ice, the ice cap "should" follow the receding waters but do take precautions and I would also st...

Hi, There are two sides, one we call the bay and the other the channel. The bay is the least expensive. We mark a channel going out and the average depth is 4 feet. Once out of the bay the depth goes down to 5-6 feet until you are nearer the river. We recommend to trim up the motor until you exit th...

Hi, Not sure if you found a spot but we do have some left for the 2007 season. Cost is $35 per foot. If above the budget, you can "dry dock" where you leave your boat in our compound and launch when you want ot use it. Costs between $15 to $25 per foot. We are on Trim road, at Petrie Islan...

If we're going to do this, let's do it as big as we can. Here is what Oziles' can/will provide, promo with the papers looking to bring in more prizes, location with lots of parking, assuming weather works out an ice rink for non-fishing family members, willing to see about setting up a bonfire or at...

I posted on the other forum as well, washrooms will be on the ice this year and will also have a chip truck operating every weekend. You can count us in for prizes and location!

Am also working on a large hut on wheels (10X20 approx.) which could be used as a base of operation
