I've never used cheaters but (and i could be wrong) isn't there regulations , lake by lake , as to the number of hooks you canhave on a line . you might want to ensure you're fishing legal

dances with fishes yes , your correct , if the fish are at 80' down your ball and release should be at the same depth , and I would be at least 25' back but over 50' is excessive , but if your running a spoon it will trail directly behind the ball , but if you want lots of wiggle (action) with say ,...

as good as i can remember , last year at this time the ice i fished was 3' plus , to hear of lakes not freezing over makes it all that more important to exercise extreme caution , remember error on the safe side
