Took my brother and his wife out for some catfish on Sunday. Caught a bunch, best one was about 7 pounds, and everyone had "big fun".

Was in the catfish tournament a couple of times. Lots of fun, if they bring it back, I'm in!

Is the Ottawa river at Arnprior opening up this weekend, the 3rd Saturday in May? (fishing sanctuary eh?) Like to give that a try this weekend.

Just looked at your pictures. That hurts, but water levels are extremely low everywhere in the Ottawa area. Can't blame that on the government. Sorry about your prop and skeg.

I took my boat out to Shirleys Bay, and let me tell you, that water is SHALLOW, like I have never seen it. With some rocks down there the size of my old VW, and now they are so close to the surface, caution is the word. I hope the fish can survive this drought, because that's what it is looking like.

Just want to say thanks to everyone for the advice. Especially the "get a sled" and the fin-bore ideas. See what happens this week.

Never tried hard water fishing before, but am thinking of giving it a try. For some reason my son thinks it should be fun. (I think he's probably watching Ice Road Truckers too much.) Any advice on ice augers would be appreciated. Manual augers as the jury is out on whether this is my type of fishin...

They send a shiver up your back when you hook into one. The American Eel is supposedly endangered and thus protected But we hooked into 3 of those slimy things last year on the Ottawa River.

I've seen fishermen at Shirley's Bay with waders on just in front of the rock beach and they were waist deep. They were also catching pike and some smallies. It's a great spot .
