Catfish Bait

Fresh Chicken liver works best, previously frozen doesn't do the same thing. Farm Boy in Kanata sells it fresh, costs about $2.50 and you will have all the fish you can handle. The big old cats get smarter though, they don't take the artificial baits as often as the little ones. If looking for a big...

Trolling Motor Blues

Thanks Seaweed,

You are right. I tired out the trolling motor today and no problems. Once I got the line out of the gears, it seems to be working just fine. My trolling motor is a bow mounted and I'll keep it going for a while yet, but thanks for mentioning your Minkota.

Thanks, I'll do that on Monday. In the meanwhile I took off the blade on the trolling motor and discovered a real crows nest of fishing lline wrapped around the shaft behind the blade. It must have been there a while. Put a new fuse in and will see what happens tomorrow. If any problems I call your ...

Trolling Motor Blues

I have a 35 lb Minkota trolling motor for an 18 foot boat. i know it is probably underpowered but it came with the boat. What has happened is that the fuse (Canadian Tire one) became so hot it blew and melted the plastic container that the fuse comes with. Is this a problem with my trolling motoer o...

PETA

I just joined the " Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters " the other day. Reason for joining is so they can lobby our government to counter the dys-information campaigns put out by PETA and their pseudo-scientific sympathisers. Don't know if I'm allowed to put a link to their web site...

:D If you want to catch a lot of cats use chicken liver. Farm Boy in Kanata sells it fresh (and cheap) If previously frozen it doesn't work as well. BUT, if you want to catch big cats, in the 10 lb. range use as big a minnow as you can find with a slip sinker. We have found that the minnows, up to 6...

:? I wouldn't recommend Shirley Bay as a first time boat launch. The launch at the town of White Lake on White Lake usually isn't too busy and there is a concrete dock beside the launch. Good luck.
