Appreciate the concern, Long Island is very still water on the lower side and has had ice forming on it since Dec 26th.
Would not venture on if I did not think it was safe enough to. it freezes up quick there.

Did some recon this am at Long Island locks.

Shoreline was a tad messy but got out about 5 yards and all seemed solid.

Frozen all the way up to Long Island point.

Didn't have a chisel or my auger to check thickness but will do so 2mrw and update.

Probably was a red horse sucker u caught....look kind of similar.

Was there a few years ago and a guy caught a few.

In the Prior for the weekend....will catch up w/t you on Tues.

I had one of my best days @ Shirley's ever.....got away from the crowds slightly and the perch were bang on. Stung my 1'st 3 over 10" this year + a few evening eyes that capped the day off just dandy. I'm glad it happened as I've been getting my butt handed to me fairly regular this ice season....

Same thing was happening to me this weekend til I switched to a jign' Rap
w/t a minnow head & it seemed to get those short biters up through the hole.
