Funny you asked if it went aerial. I have never seen a bass jump like this one. Jumped straight up like a missile 4 different times. No tail dancing, squirming or tail wagging—just straight up and then landed on it's side.

Was really strange, must have cleared the water by 30 inches

Pond Smallmouth Fishing

Went to a friend's cottage north of Wakefield. It is on a tiny lake (two spring fed ponds). I could see bottom in 24-25 feet of water. Anyway caught several smallmouth—this being the biggest. We were sight fishing in 10 feet of water—caught him on an 1/8 oz. jighead and a berkley gulp (forget wh...

Thanks for the responses it sometimes is hard to tell the size of a fish from a pic but yeah I figured that they were both under four pounds.

Labour Day Bass Report (LMB & SMB) VIDEOS & PICS

Well tough day on the lake—lots of boat traffic so it was interesting in the canoe. Worked hard to get 5 or 6 Smallmouth on an offshore hump (topped out in 20 ft of water and was surrounded by 50-65 ft of water. Nothing over 2lbs there. Ended up catching this Smallmouth in 23 ft of water at the bo...

Great report and some hefty largemouths. So do I have to go to the Quebec side to find little lakes full of largemouth and no boat traffic?

I am going back this Saturday—taking my mother out for the day in the canoe to get her in to some bass.

I will pick up a digital scale and post the report again.

Thanks guys, there are a few largemouths in those pics, two pics of one fish. I would have guessed the biggest at 2.5 lbs. Thought the big smallmouth was over 3 without doubt measured 21-22 inches (I put him up to the but of my spinning rod and tyried marking it from there). Anyway it was a blast ca...

Thanks Stajan_14. I thought it was easily four as well and possibly close to the "nickle" mark that I have seen on here. I have caught fatter ones but never one this long.

I know it is tough to judge from photos but I know there are some experienced eyes here (moderators?).

Bass Report (4-5 pound smallie) You tell me

Hello all, I have been lurking a while and finally I am contributing. My girlfriend and I hit my favorite lake just outside of Ottawa for some bass fishing from the canoe. Hot day, bright sun and 5-10km/h winds. Most of the better largemouth seemed to be sitting in 5-8 foot deep weed beds not far fr...

Fish finder backed up by aqua-vu

I have just sometimes wondered if what I'm marking could be groups of baitfish, carp or catfish when fishing for smallies or Walleyes.

I was thinking it would be amazing to lower a camera down to confirm or diprove my idea of what I was marking.

Any of you have any stories to share about this?

Yup, that is the one. moines.
Saw a huge sign warning Ontario residents that they must have a valid que fishing license to fish. We just enjoyed the scenery.

It really is gorgeous up there saskie. Crazy that it is the same river that we see around parliament.

We boated up a tributary on the Que side straigh across from Driftwood park. One of the most beautiful places I have ever been. Forget the name of the river though.

I have seen pics of monster pike coming from the river up there. But man, I can't remeber the last time that I was 100% skunked. I mean not even a panfish.

Skunk fishing in Deep River

Well, camped at Driftwood Provincial park this past weekend and decided to do a little fishing. As you can tell by the title of this post, the results were not good. Between 6 fisherman in 3 boats we mannaged ZERO fish on Saturday. Tried a mix of topwater presentation and soft jerkbait over a few ro...
