Re: El Nino and Ice

Awareness is certainly key Jimmy, thanks for posting this thread. Sometimes, when people get comfortable they slip in to pattern behaviour and end up making decisions based on what worked in the past. Last weekend I was fishing for Splake in a boat while my buddies were ice fishing specks. Different...

Re: Careful On The Ice

For those that live in Ottawa there shouldn't be much waiting if any if you have a small boat. It's amazing how different the weather ins 1.5 hours north of the city compared o 1.5 hours south of the city. Often you can post a small boat in loughborough lake the same day you could walk out on Blue S...

Re: Rideau river biting is slow...

I fished Big Rideau lake for the first time this year on Monday to get an idea of where the fish were stacking for Megabucks. water temp 55-58 throughout the day and I boated only 4 bass over 12 inches—toughest day I've had on the water in a few years. Could turnover have something to do with it? I'...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

Enjoying what this planet has to offer is no more an argument to harvest fish than it is an argument for catch and release. Um, it kind of is, if you like to eat some of the fish that you catch, which I gather from the steam coming from your ears that you must not  . Enjoying what this planet ...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

Bl8ant: your arguing about keeping fish on a freaking fishing forum...... What I meant by my point, I guess I have to break it down exactly for you, was: If it was up to people like you we would not be allowed to fish because we need to protect the fish. Your a fisherman right, but if we were not a...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

Someone who follows all of the rules and keeps some fish for their hard work is not greedy they are enjoying what this planet has to offer they way it is meant to be. You can keep eating those Lake Ontario or farmed fish from the grocery store all you want but I'll keep eating my fresh fish and if ...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

This is quite literally the most ignorant thing I have ever read on this site. what's the point of saving the population if we can't enjoy them? Dude are you kidding? What is the point of saving the population if you cannot enjoy fishing for them—are you for real? They mean nothing unless they serve...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

Basing your decision to keep one fish or a limit of fish on the amount of money you have spent fishing is by it's very nature greedy. In fact, your decision is based on greed with that mentality regardless of the fishery's health. Even if you could take 35 fish and only took 1 your reasoning would r...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

Interesting article. I don't get thought how an article can say, "case and point, in a small to medium lake if every angler caught just one limit a year then the lake would be overfished" without linking this quote to any scientific data or studies. Just because a guy said it in an articl...

Re: Gord Pyzer sets the record straight on catch limits

If only people cared as much about their fishery as they do their "rights" we wouldn't need articles like this.
Changing people's attitudes is a slow process, lets hope it picks up steam.

Craig, many will think we are crazy-that's fine.

As for the "flag pole" in the bed of his pick up, it's actually a full size telephone pole to put the size of the truck in to perspective

Re: Paul Loves It On His Face - St-Jean Le Baptist Report

I was also fishing la belle province on Saint Jean the Baptist day. A tradition of mine has always been to stop off at one of the many natural flag patches that dot the countryside along the route to my favourite lake. Home owners must have been seeding and watering diligently for days, their lawns ...

http://www.stylintrucks.com/images/09092009HighLow/DSC_0129a.jpg Kinda like spending a bunch lowering a truck, putting low profile rubber on it so it handles more like...a car. Would make sense if it retained the truck like capabilities I suppose. "It looks sick though"! Yes, it sure does.

Re: Spinning Rods? who uses them still???

Personal preference aside it just seems logical to choose spinning gear over casting gear to throw light baits. One design is open faced with little to no resistance and the other requires you to overcome inertia to get a spool moving. Shallower spools formed using top secret material sourced from N...

Re: Any Quebec trout fishermen out there?

Last weekend I was 100kms north of Ottawa in Quebec and the larger lakes were frozen shore to shore. Some smaller lakes with current were opening up but only in areas where the water was moving. Although we got a lot of rain and more is coming this week, the temperature isn't exactly tropical. Most ...
