I haven't used Nautilus deep cycles in the last 12 years but I too found they only lasted about a year. I thought that was normal at the time. Next was Interstate which lasted five years then went to Trojan which is now on it's sixth season with. I use them almost daily when bass season is open so t...

I have been very pleased with the work from Jim's Machine Shop in Arnprior. I have had two props and one skeg done by him. The props come back better than new. His set up is impressive and a nice gent to boot. Knows his bass fishing too.

Yeah, I saw an SUV stuck at the MacLaren's launch on Tuesday. It had to be pulled out by a pick up truck.

Pretty sad state of affairs when it comes to the public launches in this area.

I used to fish cats there too decades ago. There was a trail (which we all thought was a right of way) that followed the river down stream from Galetta to the Snye Channel but the locals have fenced it off and put up no trespassing signs. The only access to fish now is right below the dam but you ma...

Today (Tuesday) was a tough day for me too. Fished all day on the Ottawa and only got three hits. Sunday was alright but today was frustrating. Maybe with the full moon they feed all night and then sleep all day.

Apologies to CClad, don't mean to hijack your thread. Craig, pumpkin with chartreuse tip. They picked that consistently over black, blue fleck, white, pink or watermelon as well as plain pumpkin. These were stick baits. Keep in mind that there are many factors that would influence colour selection l...

Me too. I have done a lot of snorkelling this year on the Ottawa river; the visibility has been the best ever this season. Well at least until the 100mm of rain of Sunday which muddied up everything. Hopefully it clears again before the water gets too cold. It's neat how friendly and smart the bass ...

The one just below the dam is closed for good to accommodate the new sewage plant expansion. There is a new ramp about 500 meters down stream.

Also be careful in Buckhams Bay. It's a minefield of dead heads today plus the water is milky with no visibility. People have been tagging them thankfully but I still nailed one just below the surface.

My boat sits in the Ottawa all season and has awful looking river ring on it when I pull it out in the fall. I use one of those plastic brillo pads for scrubbing pots. Works great and with surprising little effort.

I caught a lot of those this year on the Ottawa with small twister tails when fishing for crappie. They put up a good fight on light tackle. They school up and if you get one, you can get twenty.
