Re: Little Rideau Walleye
That's interesting RJ, as I have watched Walleye (at least I think they were spawning) in Westport at 2 different locations, below the old mill and another small creek up the street in April. I used to catch them at Narrows Locks on opening weekend, likely 10 years ago.

Cardinal boat ramp closed due to high water
I just got word that the boat launch at Cardinal has been closed and barricaded by the township due to high and rising water. The docks are underwater, and all of the parking area is very wet.....so anyone heading that way this weekend may want to search out another launch.

Re: Pike Fishing on Charleston lake
Charleston Lake unless you know the lake well...as in where ice travel is safe, wouldn't be my first choice of lakes this year bud. Lots of open water in Big waters...yes "lots" as of yesterday!

Re: St Laurence river Rockport walleye
Walleye anywhere on the St Lawrence with depth and current is getting to be pretty normal the last few years...they're really doing well. 1/2 oz jig head, chartreuse gulp twister tail works great for me. Dropshot with a gulp minnow works as well. If you're fishing off the dock at night, try some dee...

Re: Looking for trout
Well you wont be walking out on big waters anytime soon this year lol...70ft or 7ft..and anywhere in between. There's really no secret set in stone depth for winter time lakers...find where the bait is..find the lakers. I usually like to look for a 25-40 foot hump surrounded by much deeper water...b...

Very true about no ice fishing for Lakers on Charleston. Season runs from the 4th Saturday in May, till Sept. 8th. CO's make their rounds...trust me.

Re: Spincast?
Where did you hear that spincasts are falling out of favor? They have their applications...you're not going to win many frog battles with a spincast reel...but on the other hand, id rather fight giant smallies on a spinnning reel any day of the week!

Re: Lakers from a canoe Charleston Lake PP, possible?
Trex gave you great info and a good area to fish...but you dont have to go very far from the park to get into good laker water...If it gets windy..the paddle back from Democrat wont be fun unless you sneak up through the islands. Paddle straight out from the beach between Whitefish and Pike Isands a...

Re: Charleston Lake Lakers
Hey Thanks for the link Smitty...glad to see they did some investigating and an actual study...but really, I don't think wacky rigs are going anywhere soon. I try and encourage people to use o rings with their rigs...you still lose them but not as often for sure. In a perfect world, it would be nice...
