Re: Crown Land Island Camping and Lake Trout Mission
Sharbot is mostly crown land and is known as the lake of one hundred islands. In theory you could camp on the island south of Green island, but can't comment on the terrain. I was there recently and there are lakers in the western half of the lake. Lots of marks in the main section just out from the...

Re: Looking for Ottawa fishing insight and guidance.
Hello and welcome. Lake Madawaska (Head Pond) has some decent walleye spots, but I do better in early season. The Fishhawk map below has some spots identified to check out. I live in Barrhaven and Clay Bank boat launch is about 45 minutes from my house. Feel free to DM me for more details.

Re: Intro
Cliff, those are lake trout. I mainly fished a lake called Walsh lake when I lived up there. You had to launch on another lake and basically portage through a creek to get to it, but the fishing was amazing. No big boats could make it through there. Charleston has been my favourite so far around her...

Re: Rideau River Merrickville
Awesome, thanks for the advice! Which boat launch would you recommend in the area. Is it the one by Boat Launch and Beek road? What do you like to troll with?

Re: Muskrat Lake
Five hours of trolling from Mcnaughton Bay up to the Snake river on the sturgeon mountain side. No fish and not even anything I would count as a bite. I was marking tonnes of fish though and had my downriggers set to about 60-70 feet in 100-120 feet of water. That was a long one. For now I'll be sti...

Re: Muskrat Lake
Thanks Smitty. How does Muskrat compare to Charleston? I've heard there is a lot of baitfish here so the fish tend to be bigger, but sometimes the bite is really off.

Muskrat Lake
Hey Guys,
Heading to Muskrat Lake for the first time this weekend to fish for Lakers. Any tips or intel on which area is best to start trolling in? I found an older post referencing D5 and E5 for pike and walleye.

Re: Has their been a Ottawa area fish hawk meet up?
I joined last year also because I've learned a lot on this forum lurking and reading through posts. I'd be down for a possible meet up also and live in the Ottawa area.

Rideau River Merrickville
Hey Guys, Does anyone have any advice for targeting walleye from a boat on the Rideau river from Merrickville to Kilmarnock? I've never hit this stretch of the river before, but was interested in checking it out. I've had a lot of success down river and was thinking about trying a new area. Here's o...

Charleston Lake
Hey Guys, spent about a week out at Charleston lake and was able to get on the water a handful of times. I was marking fish near eastern and western water primarily, and closer to the narrows. Ended up with about 10 lakers in total. Most were smaller ones, but did get a few in the 3-4 pound range. S...

Re: Zone 18 Trout Opener
Thanks for the tips on lures I should pick some of those up. I was planning on using a tube jig sitting on a one ounce jigging spoon, blade baits, or 1/2 oz hair jigs but not sure if that will be heavy enough in 80 feet.

Re: Zone 18 Trout Opener
Nice! Do you have spot lock with your trolling motor? What do you do to keep the jig vertical and stop yourself from drifting?
I'm heading out for lakers next Friday and want to spend more time jigging and less trolling.

Hi! I've been lurking on this forum for so long now, I figured it was time to create an account and attempt to contribute. I primarily shore fished the Ottawa area for many years before I moved to the Northwest Territories and bought my first boat. Lots of the Summer up north was spent catching lake...
