Re: Zone 18 Trout Opener

Nice! Do you have spot lock with your trolling motor? What do you do to keep the jig vertical and stop yourself from drifting? I'm heading out for lakers next Friday and want to spend more time jigging and less trolling. I have no trolling motor at all. My boat is a 15ft aluminum with 15hp tiller s...

Re: Zone 18 Trout Opener

Very nice ! Appreciate the report. That's pretty amazing that the Trout followed your spoon right to surface considering the water temps...it must've been hungry ! How deep were you jigging for them ? This year they were deeper it seemed. 80-120ft was my prime depth. They were also not chasing the ...

Zone 18 Trout Opener

I went out Saturday morning on the big Rideau for trout opener. Got out a little later than I wanted didn’t get fishing until 7. But I still found them!! Started the morning jigging and landed 2 right away. IMG_4572.jpeg IMG_4487.jpeg Got them on the new magnum jigging rap. Caught a few more but the...

Lots of lakes in Quebec are crazy with their prices! I have a family cottage on the lake I mostly fish luckily. But exploring New lakes can get expensive.

I’ve been getting out alot this spring for landlocked salmon. Mostly targeting them and not the lakers. First 2 weeks of the season 35-45ish water temps. Casting spoons in the current at the mouth of a river and trolling small crank baits on flatlines was working good. Depth was 10ft all the way to ...

Fall recap

Been laking on my post and I’m about to post my first ice fishing post so figured I’d do my late summer fall recap. Starting the start of August I s made a couple trips up too the swisha dam to do some walleye fishing. Me and my buddy Chris had a good first trip up there. We mostly trolled cranks or...

Fishing In Ottawa

I’ve been trying to get myself an urban/close too home musky for a while now. Being in Ottawa I have to option Rideau river and Ottawa river. I decided to target Rideau river. Mostly fishing Mooneys bay down to Dows Lake. I like to pack light and cover as much water as possible. There’s walking path...

Re: Big Rideau lake trout

That’s the size I run. Perch colours seem to work good. I do upsize the tremble and put on a high quality one. I don’t have spot lock either but I use a tiller boat. So I keep the motor running and just back into the wind and shift between forward and reverse as needed. Takes some practice. I’ve als...
