Chalk Board Weather

I'm surprized Prior Guy remembers that he got up this morning... PERCY HAS LEFT THE BUILDING Percy Philip Saltzman passed away, quietly in his sleep, in the early morning hours of Monday, January 15th, 2007. He will be remembered by his loving family and his many, many fans. Percy Saltzman was the f...

Crossed the border on Boxing Day at Prescott @ around 6:00 a.m.. When we got to the crossing there was a young fox sitting like a trained dog beside the next guard box. Tame as old hell... Seems the folks there throw it scraps, and its now a fixture. Wished we had a camera. Next trip..... BTW - I he...

Constance Lake

30 years ago it was just as fun on Constance.. the fish were a bit bigger, we had basic equipment, and sometimes a little less. In the fall we used to be able to hunt ducks.....

Those days are all over...

Muskrat Lake Ice

Just before supper I was chatting to a good ol' boy who lives near the Pembroke end of Muskrat. He advises that the ice on the mid sections of the lake where the water is deep is still very slushy, and in some spots is basically just snow covered with a thin layer of ice. A week or so of -10 or bett...

Keeping Holes Open

I've heard there are guys from Galetta, Sandy Hook, and the Sand Point area that back their trucks up and put a flexible hose from the exhaust down next to the hole, and keep it running! A few guys get sleepy in their huts, though it might be the beer, rum or rye that makes them feel that way!...

Arnprior Launch

Merci to all who provided directions and advise. Yes, the launch up from the Arnprior Aerospace is in bad shape for the average guy with either a car/van/half-ton...Yep, looks best to have a 4WD. The Clay Bank launch was in great shape.... Thanks to Braeside/McNab Township! As to fishing this past W...

Arnprior Head Pond - Boat Launch

Is the boat launch for the head pond at Arnprior - just down from the Boeing Plant still there, and if yes, can you launch with a car or van? I've not been there in "Years" and recall it wasn't in great shape then. Was speaking with someone a while ago, and they thought that you really nee...

Farren lake access

Hey SD,

Many thanks for the response. I got a phone call from a chap about the lake, and he said the same. Funny how "private" gets so nasty these days..I thought this was Ontario, "yours to discover"....

Farren (Farrell) Lake - Public Access

Afternoon All, Could anyone advise whether there is public access/boat launch to Farren (Farrell) Lake. I was there 20 or so years ago, but was visiting some folks who had a cottage, so it was possible to put in a boat. I was checking the Fishing Ontario book, which is a few years old, and there is ...

Gord-o Congrats on the first show....As always, the Carp Show is fun to attend. It's a great opportunity to run into folks from the Valley who you generally only see once a year, and in my case, a couple of lads from my days at Arnprior District High School back in the mid-late 70's....Funny, 30 yea...
