Anyone been out on any of these lakes since the rain washed away the snow? Wondering what the ice depth is, looking at fishing Horne Lake in preference...any info greatly appreciated!

Re: Fishing at the Kemptville Creek area
No luck with the glow spoons on the Mississippi for the buddies I've fished with. Most of our success with the Raps, Swedish and snelled hooks with split shot and minnows...the snelled hooks deadsticked...right on bottom...fish have been soft mouthing the last couple of nights...(surprising even the...

If you're interested in the Hay Bay area of the Bay of Quinte, Perfect Vue Resort might be something to check out...(perfectvueresort.com)... Re: Shirleys bay Ice
You haven't ice fished in 15+ years???? You poor soul! Glad to hear that you are now able to come out and enjoy the frustration that some (lots) of us have /are enduring... As I have read in more than a handful of columns, the fish aren't where they used to be, aren't as big, aren't as plentiful BUT...

Re: Where do they all go?
Have you tried around the boat launch area on River road? I usually go out about 50-60 yards to the right of the launch (away from the bird reserve) and try out in front of the cattails....
Have had success there in the past. Good luck!

Re: Somewhere Between Constance and Shirleys Hut Locations
C'mon over to the ole Miss! We have plenty of room on the lake for new comers to give'er a go! Yesterday my buddy and I were out catching perch in the shack and a younger-than-us lad came out with a pail, a hand auger and some equipment....just starting out in the sport.. He asked us where to find f...

Re: Rideau River Ice
Anyone been fishing the 'catch-all' on the Rideau river between Burritt's Rapids and Kemptville with our warm spell lately? I'm wondering about ice thickness and if there's any local shacks....I know there's usually a small community of shacks between Kemptville and Ottawa that you can see from the ...

Long Lake Tay Valley twp.
I went out with a buddy yesterday to try Long Lake. I have never fished it during the winter, but the lake holds pike, pickerel, small and largemouth bass, perch, and a host of pan fish. There is a summertime undeveloped boat launch with limited parking area...the lake's max depth is 65 ft with a me...

Re: Battery for Vexilar
A 12v 9amp battery is common to motorcycles & ATVs. Try a dealer or mechanic. Walmart, Cabelas, Bass Pro Shops Gander Mountain should have something. If you store your battery for an extended period of time and you don't recharge it before storing, batteries will develop a memory as well. If yo...

Now that the winter is upon us, if you like to ice fish as I do, I told my son many years ago to bring along his duck and goose calls to practise while ice fishing,.,.,. 20160913_083205.jpg 20131123_094912.jpg It's amazing what a little practise can do....we prefer to hunt fields vs water in prefere...

Re: Best electric fillet knife?
I use an older, corded Hamilton Beach 'switchable' electric knife that my late mother cut everything from homemade bread to roasted meats with. The turnable blade is perfect for cutting and the knives come apart for easy cleaning. I went to a flea market and bought extra replacement blades for $2.00...
