A Stroke of GENIUS! My version of THE tip-Down!
Last year. Rob showed me the most beautifull thing in the world... a tip-down...
put the rod on it and you fight the fish with your rod and not a piece of wood.
i was like... dude you must have an i.q. of 120..... then he said i didnt creat them twas a friend!
i wanted to copie them.... but i found them too big of a braket( not that its not a great idea or nothing)
plus. i did not have the lumber to make them...
Then it happened..... BOOM! my brain fizzled.. OUCH!
to the work table.
using nothing but a long bolt , brass sleeve and crazy glue..... The perfect tip down was created.
The only diff. i see with this model and rob's friends model.
with this model you absolutly need snow.
with the big wood plates you dont!
cant wait for tomorrow..... monster pike lake and i will test this new creation.
ill post the results tommmorow night!

Kevin, you might be annoyed by how tricky it will be to get the rod off of the bolt though, I would cut the bolt so that you only have to move the rod an inch or so to get it off the bolt.
When hell freezes over, I'll be there icefishing!!!

thanks for the idea wallyboss!
ill try it AS IS tommorow.
there nothing like trying it to see how i should tune it !
i was thinking also the thread on the bolt will cause a small struggle as im taking it off of the tip-down.
a smooth bolt would work best!
this took me 15 minutes to make .
just enough time for me not to ''forget'' my idea!
HAHAH

It's pretty sweet Kev. It's fun creating. I've had some weird contraptions like the PikeSlayerinator but now just have different versions of tipdowns too. Yours should play nicely if a fish is nibblin.
I'll show ya something easier to make and not as hard on rods when we get out for a fish sometime.

Only thing I would do is add some duct tape somewhere on it. Then it will be a master piece. If nothing else it will make more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
And from what I can see in the picture, this is only a 1 beer project?

Have fun Kevin. I know we'll see some brutes.

Have you considered a small slip-bobber?fisherguy33 wrote:Wow brilliant!! Could really do the trick for the stupid tight-lipped current edge walleye I've been dealing with lately. Ability to let the fish take the bait + hard hookset=EUREKA!

Hey Kevin,
Great minds think alike eh. This is my version.
The rubber bands are strong and adjustable, allowing for balance changes if you want to drop shot or change weight. They come from brocolli bunches. Also changes position to detect ultra-light nibbles. Easy to remove from the nail, which is angled to keep it on, and space the reel from the stick. There's also a spacer on the base of the nail which doesn't show up well in the photo. Keeps it from rubbing on the base.
I was just fishing in my livingroom so thought I'd take some pics.
Go get 'em Kevin,
