Hi Joco,
I'm a die hard fly fisherman. I don't post a lot on hear b/c there's not a lot of traffic.
Sounds to me like you're getting back into the fly game. Good for you. Like you I had to rebuy a lot of my tying material. Ever fly fish out of one of your yaks? Sounds difficult. Under two weeks to the new season!!!!
regards,
Gangus

Frustrated fly fisherman right HERE
Allo Joco,
I'm sure like myself most of the fly fisherman are busy planning their first spring trout outing.
My buddies and I usually go to Lake Placid, NY but this year wanted to stay in Canada with Papineau-Labelle in mind. It's almost all booked up!
Now we're deperately looking for a solid speck or rainbow or brown trout fisherie for our May 14th weekend.
So to answer your question, yes, there are trout fishermen out there but this one is busy doing recon and stressing out!
But on the good side, it's bringing me back on this site
Cheers,
UF

Hey Joco,
There's a reason fly fishing is called "the quiet sport".....
I'd like to post reports, but it's been unusually rainy here in Japan this year. My local rivers have been a little higher than normal and flash flooding is fairly common here.
Getting to trout waters is expensive (around $40 per river section depending on which club manages it) and often involves 3 to 4 hours by car just to get to the destination. Then you are elbow to elbow with other anglers - kind of like openning day on Canadian rivers.
I plan to head out for some carp next weekend - let you know if it happens.

Time's fun when you're having flies.
I'm afraid that life has gotten me away from most fishing. I'm heading to Algonquin for a few days in May, but I haven't cast a fly since I was back in Newfoundland last July (rose a couple of salmon, hooked none, don't ask...)
If I'm lucky I'll get out some more this summer, and if I do I'll likely be around the boards a little more.
