Todays ICE FISHING Report!!!
I took advantage of the beautiful cold day we had and went up to the Haliburton's to check the ice conditions on a couple of smaller lakes I frequent. With my floater suit buckled up tight I was pleased to see a good 3" of solid ice as I slowly made my way out. Fishing the 1st lake for 1.5hrs and iced 2 nice eating sized lakers. One taken on a Blue fox jigging spoon and the other on a small minnow. Both fish were caught in 35' of water.
Packed up and headed further north to a little Rainbow lake. I setup in 16' of water with the minnow rig and jigged a few feet away in 22'. Got a briliant coloured male Rainbow on the minnow and had a real big one break off (to much pressure on the 4lb line....ouch!) on the jigging spoon. Missed 1 other fish on the minnows and called it a day.
What a amazing day to be out and enjoy the great outdoors.... no tracks (other then deer) and extremely peaceful.
Heres hoping the rest of the bigger lakes firm up fast!
Take care and be safe out there!
Good Fish'n.... Greg.

Hi JFish, The ' bow' was a male and slightly darker and more colourful then what I normally see.... spots are normal and depending on factors (ie: Stocked vs natural, forage, different lakes) the details will vary. This one really does not look like any brown I have ever caught. Check out this link... it has some great pics of browns... http://www.troutnut.com/otherpics/fish.phpJFish wrote:Hey guys, although I have never caught a brown before does that bow not have spots much like a brown? I have never caught a bow with spots on it like that, especially covering most of it's side. Is that a common thing? Just curious.

Take care and Good Fish'n . ... Greg.
