Flippin' advice

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Flippin' advice

Post by Coop »

What type of line do you use while flipping for bass. Currently I use 17 pound Trilene XT, but I think it might be time for a change.

Any advice?

Iron silk 12LBs...but I hear people complain about it..It is the best stuff I have used...Except for the 3m stuff that came out years ago....and only for a little while.

Only 12 pounds?!

Isn't that a a little light?

I don't think I'd even be remotley comfortable fishing a line less than 14 pound test, or is iron silk that strong?

I started using 20lb vanish this year and I really like it. I tried the 20lb P-Line fluorocarbin but it had way too much memory!

Braid all the way! I use 50# Power Pro most of the time and 65# when I'm in the slop.

the line is amazing coop! I put 14 lbs on my baitcast this year but found it did'nt feel right. I put on the 12 and love it, although I have to be carefull in casting. I have not lost one fish due to a linebreak with this stuff.

like GamblerSteve said can't beat Power Pro in both 50lb and 65lb great sensitivity and you can tow a car with the strength.

rather than moving up, try a different brand....

PowerPro is not the be all end all to braid....

as a matter of fact, most are only using it cause someone told them to use it.

try Fins PRT.

I read all the posts and am constantly amazed with the amount of knowledge and advice here.wtg People
Funny though as kids or teens we never would have entertained the idea of heavy test line. We used what we had, most likely 6-8lb.
If we lost a fish we would adjust the drag and try again
My times have changed

Braid...Braid...or Braid....40lbs and up...if your flippin heavy cover....you better be prepared to do some "serious Haulin"...Drag cranked down...and grip'n rip!
