What Do You Use For A Bailing Bucket?

Post by Eagle »

What do you use as a bailing bucket that, as I understand it, is required in Ontario? Not sure if there is a reg for size, etc. Just wondering.

Thanks for your reply.

There is no "real" regulation as far as size, type, etc....as long as you can scoop water with it, it's legal. I personally keep one of those Canadian Tire Safety kits in the boat and use the container as a bailer..

I use a coffee can. It doubles as a pee can.....used most often for this purpose.

There is a size requirment for bailing bucket

Safe boating guide book of Canada reads that bailers must be at least 750ml with the opening a min of 65cm2(10in2), and made of plastice or metal.

I use a 4 litre plastic jug from washer fluid. Just cut the bottom off and your fine.

Manual water pumps work well also and can reach down into the bilge of your boat. www.boatingsafety.gc.ca is a great site to give a read.
