Time to try some fly fishing this year... first of many questions I suspect.

What knot is used to connect the flyline to the backing and the leader.

If this has been answered previously, any links would be welcomed.

Thanks.

Flyline to backing connection: Albright Knot

Flyline to leader: Loop to Loop connection
Most fly lines nowadays come with a loop connector. All you need is to use a Perfection Loop on your leader to utilize the loop to loop connection.

When attaching the fly line to the backing the knot used depends on the type of line. Here at the shop we use a double nail knot with floating lines and an Albright knot on sinking lines.

For attaching leaders a on floating lines we use a nail knot to attach the leader to the line and then tie a perfection loop on the leader once it gets too short. For sinking lines and tropical lines we use an Albright knot.
