Good Spot for Bass

Post by Panfisher »

G'day,

I am taking a Maritmer who grew up fly fishing for Atlantics out for fly fishing in the Ottawa area. Any suggestions?

I've heard Bates Island has high water.

If I go up the Rideau are there any good spots this season? Is Jones Falls usually all right?

Thanks!

All the rivers are higher right now but there's still some decent bass fishing to be had. Just be careful wading.

Check out some of the previous posts, particularly the OFS Tuesday evening fishing outings.

Cheers,

Salar.

Try any and all of the fast water around any of the locks in the Rideau Canal.

Smallie fishing is usually pretty good. Take care. Water is higher than usual for this time of year and pretty fast in places.

You will probably catch more small smallies than big ones, so if you catch and release, consider barbless. Those little buggers are aggressive and like to swallow what they hit............like me on pizza!!

good luck
