Summer Evening Flyfishing (June 24th)

Date: June 24th)
Location: The Mill @ Manotick (Rideau R.)
Time: ~6pm
Parking: available on the stree (see map)
Species: Walleye, Pike, Muskie, panfish

Notes:
Access is from Mill St. below the dam. The rocks can be very slippery so proper wading boots, and a wading staff are recommended.

The turnout wasn't quite what I was expecting but for those of us that did show up the fishing was pretty good. Nothing large to speak of but lots of panfish. Two very large carp were also spotted cruising around the pool as were scores of good sized suckers.

Anyone try targeting the carp or suckers? I hooked into a nice Redhorse sucker down in New York a couple of weeks ago on an olive Czech nymph. I thought it was a monster brown trout till I got it close enough to see.

Unfortunately I didn't bring my 8wt along, otherwise I would have. Best guess was that the carp was at least 20lbs.

yeah, had to work late, would have loved to get there. Probably not gonna make next tuesdays either, c-day. No pike?

No pike, but next week we're hoping to hook into some trout and SM.
