Fishing in Stratford and Surrounding Area??? Help!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

your best bet and closest spot would probably be Bayfield.

depends what you are fishing for. there are tonnes of carp to be be had in the Avon. i know there lots of bass there too. (just not in season yet)

if you are looking for trout then the suggested would be the alternative.

BTW what colour is the Avon right now? clear or muddy?

:) Hoover, Hoeboe is right.

There are tonnes of Carp in the river at Stratford. I caught 5 in one day last August... Lots of fun.

For Pike and Bass your friend will have either Wildwood CA in St. Mary's or the Pinnock reservoir in Woodstock.

And, there's always the Grand. A tough river to figure out, but some people seem to have success with it.

:D The river in town has lots of carp. If he is there when trout season opens they stock the pond area there with rainbows. You can catch lots for the first two weeks of the inland season. Power bait off bottom with a split shot works well. Down near the dam..if you go below the dam its all carp. 15 mins east to the sprawling metropolis of New Hamburg. Nith River..carp,bass, pike and walleye..water is always stained .but fish are there. Good hole for eyes behind the cheese shop and just out of town on Reg. 5 at the municipal yards you will find lots of carp.

Also the Thames river in the St. Marys area holds pike, carp, bass and some walleyes at times below the dam.
For trout & salmon Bayfeild, Goderich and Pt. Albert.

GoodLuck

If your looking for the Pinnock Dam, in Woodstock you'll be looking for a while...

It's the Pittock Dam,

Sorry Legend, this was named after my Great Uncle....still go to the Pittock Family Reunions there every other year...tons of fish.

:) You're right Steve G... I can only say that the onset of old age has got my landmarks all smurfed up. ("Smurf" Proof of old age in itself)

Did you ever catch anything decent down at the "Pittock" Dam?

Does anone know if Innerkip is any good?

(5 more weeks to Westmeath!)
