Unfortunately most of the time it's a Minn Kota :(

But on the bass boat we run a '93 Johnson Fast Strike 150. It does the job.

1987 Johnson VRO. Not too many complaints with it. Has a top speed of 34 mph on my 16 1/2 foot lund so not too fast not too slow and decent on gas.

I've gone through 2 starters with my 2000 90 HP Johnson. The first time it was rebuilt and last weekend I just put a new start on her. Other than that, it's worked great. Fuel consumption is good to.

I also have a 20HP Johnson on the 14 foot sea nymph. It's an older model, 1972 I believe and it works great. When it first starts, it idles pretty rough, but after 2-3 minutes it runs smooth.

My next motors will be a 4 strokes. I'm currently shopping around for a used 4 stroke kicker for the Sea Swirl. Haven't had much luck.

A 90 and a 9.9 HP both YAMAHA and 4stk.bought brand new this year.amazingly smooth motors.wouldn't trade them for anything.I am a firm beliver in preventative maintenance.did 1st oil change at 15 hours,2nd in mid season and its ready for the winterization oil change now.I was told do your maintenence regularly and its a cheap insurence policy, not to mention the aggrivation when you break down on the water.

2000 90hp Johnson 2 stroke.

Same as Markus's only with about 1/100th of the hours on it. :D

So far ... fantastic.
But a little smokey and thirsty for trolling (but who likes trolling anyway  )

1969 Evinrude 9.9 for the little 12ft.

1996 Evinrude 50hp for the 17ft, but it's main use is recreation. Not the best seating arrangements for fishing.

2003 225hp Optimax. After I put a piston or two out the side of the crankcase this spring, it ran great on the new powerhead. Great on gas (for a 225) using less than my old 150 Merc EFI. Pushes my Nitro just a tad over 70 mph on GPS when these old bones want a go fast ride.

JOHNSON/EVINRUDE ALL THE WAY

I have been running a 115 Johnson 2 Stroke for over 6 years and knock on wood, no problems as of yet. Lost a couple of props and smacked my skeg a few times also. I just keep praying to the Outboard Motor Gods.

1996, Evinrude 90 - runs great.

6 hp 4 stroke Evinrude for trolling - at low idle pushes my 176 Princecraft at the exact lake trout speed...
