Me and my good buddy Chris got out for some Lake Ontario lakers last weekend. Trip started for me Saturday with getting the boat out from winter storage and motors on the back and all the gear ready. Sunday was the day tho winds were looking perfect gear was loaded gonna be a good day.
I left Ottawa about 3:30 picked up Chris and got too the launch about 6:30 loaded up and headed out. Made a run too the first spot and set up too troll. No bites so we move too the next spot. Then the next spot and the next one. Before we know it it’s 12 with no fish.
As we are running too a new spot the sun comes out for the first time all day so we decided to drop lines quick cause maybe that’s what we need. Not long and the Downrigger rod starts shaking. First fish in the boat for 2024!
We keep trolling and continue to land a bunch of trout off the same hump. Including 1 double header We move into an area closer to the launch I’ve fished before and land a hole bunch more. Including 2 more doubles We landed fish on Downrigger, leadcore and . All taking spoons. Hottest colour was watermelon NK spoon. Great day of fishing on glass calm Lake Ontario.
