Help identifying fish species

Hoping someone can help me identify this fish??
I cannot pinpoint what it is.....mooneye, goldeye, rudd???

Looks like a rudd to me.

Based on the lack of scales on the keel and the fact the fins are not very red I am leaning towards a golden shiner or a golden shiner x Rudd cross.

That looks about right.
We let it go, that was my youngests first fish. Looks like I shouldn't have let it go but probably better I didnt kill it in front of him!!
