Mississippi report

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Mississippi report

Post by Cdnfisher »

Spent much of the long weekend out on Mississippi lake. Started Friday afternoon, within the first five minutes had a 4-lb walletye. Filled in the rest of the afternoon and evening with a few smaller walleye, some out of season bass, pike and perch. Saturday was miserable, windy as all hell and rain rain rain. We changed tactics ditched the jigs. the bite was on! We landed 6 eyes, 2 in the slot) 6 pike, at least 6 perch, and a bunch of other small pan fish - bass, rock bass, sunfish. We were cold and shivering in the rain but we had most of the lake to ourselves :D Saturday was slow.. The wind was worse, we landed a couple eyes, but they were small, amd a couple of good sized pike for Mississippi lake. Water temp is still 60-62, so a bit cold. Everything we caught wa in the 6-12 ft range and in typical walleye structure especially for windy spring weather.

All in all a good couple days of fishing. My buddy and I are used to fishing lady Evelyn in the spring and I was worried that it might not be good fishing! Not northern Ontario eye fishing, but it was good and fun too!

Nice! What's 'typical walleye structure' in spring? Cheers
