Video Report - Quebec Smallies - Updated

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Video Report - Quebec Smallies - Updated

Post by cprince »

I made this with all the footage from my weekend fishing a very remote part of North-Western Quebec.

Please excuse the teenybopper music, but the noise Paul makes and him shaking off a couple of smallies (One was a cinder block!) seemed to fit perfectly.

Paul and I wanted to try a new lake that we never heard of anyone fishing for anything other than Lakers and see if we could pull some smallies out of it.

We drove for quite a distance but it didn't seem like a long drive in many ways as we tend to shoot the breeze quite a bit no matter how far the drive. In many cases the roads themselves were the topic of conversation:

But more often than not, it was the scenery and roadside sights;

And then there was this roadside attraction:

Kinda odd... kinda nice... but mostly a big WTF?? for me... a dirt worshiping heathen.

We caught a bunch of smallies. They were MINT. Seriously clean fish.

Nothing like a lunch on an open fire. Seriously. I was full but could not stop eating because it tasted so good!! (You can see my belly stretching out my shirt as evidence!)

Life can be all about perspective. This is a view from on top of a bridge that had a sign that said: "Bridge Closed" on it. From what we were able to see, it all looked good from the road. We broke though the caution tape, went across and continued on our journey.

A few hours later, we found our way up a stream and we were able to see the underside of that same bridge. NOW we know why it was closed!

But of course, the highlight was a fish that Paul missed. It seriously was a cinder block. Might be taking another swing this weekend!

Thanks. I'm going to have that dumb song stuck in my head all day. Ugh......................

Worth it, though! Fun video. You guys are so lucky to have the opportunity to fish in such gorgeous, remote places. Good stuff!

Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
