Maiden voyage of new boat

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Maiden voyage of new boat

Post by almontefisher »

So I had the pleasure of taking out Harpee and slowleg on the Mississippi today and also the boats maiden voyage. Anyway it was a slow start to the day hitting the water around 10:30 and we decided to fish the big lake all day. Did some jigging and casting around the islands and got one rock bass. There was swirls all around us on top of the water the whole time non stop but couldn't get anything to hit. Then we made a dash to the area where the river is and fished it for the last few hours. We had a couple bass but 90% of the 12+ fish we got today were pike. They ranged anywhere from 11" to this guy that Harpee caught. It was the biggest of the day.

Anyway it was a great day to be on the lake and I had some amazing company aboard for the 1st outing. Harpee and slowleg are welcome on my boat any day.

Great write up and love what looks like a convertable rear casting deck.

Any chances you have more pics of the boat?

Congrats on the new boat. The maiden trip is always one that will be remembered.

From what I can see the boat is a beauty. A nice boat for a nice guy who shares haha. Good job getting some fellow anglers out and getting to use your new toy!

It was indeed a great day on the water! The weather was perfect, the boat is beautiful with that "new smell" that's somehow hardwired into our DNA as equating happiness, and the company was thoroughly enjoyable. Peter is just a nice guy who knows his water and his fish. I'm actually starting to think that this is some sort of scam to hook us into his guiding business once he retires; if so, I'm in! And Slowleg, i'm sure next time you'll fill up that diner menu, no problem.
Seriously this is one of the reason I joined this board: to learn from, and sometimes meet, likeminded addicts and it's been great. A big thanks again Peter, really appreciated it!

Here are some more pics of the boat. As I stated before it is a 2015 prince craft 172 pro. 115hp motor I believe and wireless trolling motor which is pretty cool for now. Until batteries die I guess lol.

It has two storage compartments on the front and rear decks as well as two live wells. One in front deck and one in back. Fish finder is crappy but we already have a Lowrence 7"HD With side imaging that we are going to install on it.
