An Office colleague loves eating perch. He is looking for a place inside an hour drive from Ottawa for good size perch.

Any recommendations?

Are there a lot of shore fishing spots there in the spring?

That I couldn't tell you, but since there is some portion of it that backs onto park land, I would think that part would be fishable from shore.

I thought the OP was looking for ice fishing suggestions :|

Lower Rideau is another good spot for perch. Access of yacht club road and head towards the city of shacks.

You'd be hard pressed to find a lake within an hour of Ottawa that doesn't have perch. All local river have them as well.

Last spring they were every where.... I could not fish the bottom with a worm without getting a perch... On the Rideau and the Ottawa.

St. Lawrence river is where you want to be. I don't know about the summer, but when the season opens in the spring you can catch them from the shores of the Thousands Islands all the way to Montreal. In a boat even better but you really don't need it though from what I've seen.
