Nice size fish Lipless. Not much color to it though. Were you downstream of Ottawa?LiplessCrank wrote:Got my biggest eye of the season, had to fish heavy current before i could find the big ones
Not hard to find current at Shirleys Choke. You just need to get out further. The majority of the larger fish I've caught and seen out there were caught in current areas, specially the far point.Choke wrote:Now I'm sad. I missed out on big O eyes. I went to the Shirleys derby instead.
Nice fish. Wish I was there. Next time.

That's a beaut of a fish.
Re: Big Ottawa River Eye!
Looks like a solid 4-5lbs! Beauty for sure!
Re: Big Ottawa River Eye!
I am thinking probably bigger. Walleye "ALWAYS" look smaller in a photo than in real life, or so I have found for the past thirty or so years. I have photos of my two biggest walleye (10.5 and 12.0) and both look considerably smaller in the photos.Tip-up wrote:Looks like a solid 4-5lbs! Beauty for sure!
(Maybe I should have held them out at arm's length!!! )
Back to the OP, testing my theory, what do you reckon it weighed - just out of idle curiosity on my part............

lipless did you go to Shirley's bay Saturday? I think I seen your portable there, very nice model btw and the fish is not bad either!!!
Re: Big Ottawa River Eye!
Thanks guys! I didn't get a measurement because i didn't want to keep er out of the water too long but i'm guessing it was a solid 4-5 pounder at around 26 inches, as soon as its head hit the water it bolted down full of energy, not only was it a great catch but a great release too!

Nice eye lipless!! I have been thinking of heading out that way one night after work now that I get off an hour earlier and its getting darker a bit later. Still haven't been out on the Ottawa yet this winter. Hoping to get out one day and fish with ya again Choke (that is if your out there that day).
