Poundin' Ice For BIG Fish & Fun!
January 7th was the beginning of the ice fishing season. Thirteen days later and it's now done for awhile.
During the short time I had, a day for splake, a few days spent down on Quinte and several more outings were shared fishing lakers.
All three outings on the BOQ eyes were caught, but two were rather slow. One day with Mike, he nabbed a giant PB and had a hot stick picking up fourteen eyes for himself. I lagged further behind, crying several times through the day while rubber-hooks saw to it that I watch four tanks come unbuttoned beneath the clear ice beneath my seat. Heartbreaking and annoying, actually seeing three of those four big fish swim away after shaking the hook. Some days go down like that though. The consolation prize... it was an absolute slay overall and we both got plenty goodies.
Three outings for lakers proved much better and I landed two real solid beauties in the mix... Picking up nearly a dozen myself, a couple friends along for the ride caught some smaller fish too, and some surprise eyes. Mike returned one day after we had been out and managed to catch himself a true valley pig, perfect timing before his season comes to its early end. Mike's laker along with his giant eye, he really smashed 'em up good over his short ice season. Myself, I'm looking forward now to late winter fun ahead.
The day for splake was awesome. We hiked into a new back lake, set up roots and before long were into 'em. Mike knows his stuff with pretty well any inland trout, so he took the helm. Specks, bows or especially lakers I'm just fine with, but splake often get the better of me. Not this day, went total Pro on 'em, and I even caught myself a pretty decent woman too. Finishing up an early season round 1 on the ice, in short time plenty fish got KO'd! Happy for the good start.
Will let some pics do the rest of the talking from here on out.
The day back lake splakin',
Some other days out fishing in the crowds.
Enjoy the rest of your winter fishing.

Short and sweet. Gotta love the action but I guess the shortness of the season for ya must be tough. Yet again another sweet post.

Although I keep my finger on the Bunkster's (rapid) pulse via FB, I didn't catch all these incredible photo's there! Some things never change, like your exceptional adventures, awesome photography and impressive fish.

You can't be everywhere Margie but I'm certainly happy you're with us here... And yeah, on that fast FB too of course.
Too slow and sloppy typing out many replies to everything with my phone. So thanks for reading all, it was a fun idea and time writing this one for a laugh.

Great post as always 'Bunk. Some beauty fish in there, quite a lot of catching for such a short season!
