Bass Pro Shops

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I called them on (BPS) on another matter. When I asked them at customer service when they were coming to Ottawa they told me that the plan is for 2016 now.

Hasn't been cancelled, it's been delayed.
Wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled it though. I Would much prefer BPS than Cabela's canada.

Got their 2015 Catalogue in the mail yesterday,
still listed as "Coming Soon", sure would be nice
to know when, if it's still gonna happen at all! :? :?

Id much rather a bass pro. My dad was at the cabelas in barrie a couple weeks ago and was not impressed at all with what he saw. I would assume that the store would be about the same size.

I have a friend that was a contractor at the tanger outlet and he was told that bass pro shop has pulled out completely because they heard that cabela's was coming to the same area. Doesn't look promising.

I'd sooner give my money to Canadian companies like Sail or LeBaron or even more the little guy if he is reasonably competitive
I love golf it keeps thousands of unworthy off the water

You'd be surprised at how competitive some of those little shops are.

It's amazing what very little overhead can do to the prices.

I have been in a few small shops which were great .. but where I currently live .. I find the local shop outrageously priced and find the service quite poor.
I want to support the company but each time I go in I am disappointed .. mostly with the level of service. High prices on occasion I can handle .. crappy or crabby service I cannot.

I was at the bps in Vaughan and was talking to the manager about a couple issues, and ended up talking about the Ottawa location and she said that bps is putting priority on the Moncton location and some other location (can remember). Long story short, Ottawa is at the bottom of their priority list which is unfortunate because they kick cabelas rear with their prices.
its not the fisherman that catches the fish,, its the gear,,,

or is it the other way around? oh well...

I like the big box stores for specialty items but I find I can't beat the information you get on local conditions from the small stores.

I generally find the prices very reasonable.
