Bite time for Crappie?
What's the best time of day to fish crappie?
Re: Bite time for Crappie?
Depends on the water.
If it's stained / murky you can get bit most any time.
If it's clear then around dawn / dusk.

Only targeted them through the ice a few times with minimal luck. Tend to get lazy in the winter and don't get out at first light so thought I may have been missing the bite. I fish the Ottawa.
Your experience is appreciated.

I'm glad someone was listening at Tubmans
In my experience it really comes down to where you are fishing. Backwaters of the Ottawa River with its stained water lends itself to a daytime bite whereas the pristine clear waters elsewhere tend to only be a dusk/dark bite. Just my observations....

Yup... learned a whole bunch that evening.
Very different from fishing on the west coast.
Many thanks to all who presented!

Re: Bite time for Crappie?
No harm in trying craps Larry if it's clear water and midday through the afternoon, especially if overcast and there's snow on the lake surface.
