Boxing day wishlist

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

That would be great to see!

I am looking for two rods and reels before the new season begins.

I know the rods will be a Dx744 or a XX EMTF and a Dobyns Champion 764cbrm. Reels will probably be JDM and will either be Megabass or Shimano.

I doubt any of stuff I want will go on sale because they very rarely do...

What do you plan on using that for?

I have a dx743 and enjoy the rod but think I would have been better off with a 744 instead.

I doubt anything in Ottawa will go on sale as far as Dobyns goes, don't think I've ever seen Dobyns on sale here but North Bay Outfitters had their Dobyns for 30% off last month. Actually that shop which is pretty good had a bunch of really good deals last month. Maybe check the out on Facebook around that time.

That 743DX is excellent for throwing weightless senkos.
Being better off is getting both. 8)

My wishlist is never ending. :techie-typing:
Today at this precise moment in time, the list contains: :techie-studyinggray:
1- Megabass FX 68R
2- Megabass IP 68R or the IP79 R (Still undecided)
3- Zonda 68R (To go with the new NRX)
4- Daiwa T3 SV (Maybe, not sure)
5- If Santa can spare some $$$ I would prefer the FX 73 SV to item 4
6- Another Shimano Calcutta 200
7- NRX Antidote
8- Dobyns 683DX
9- Dobyns 764CB RM (to go with the Calcutta)

Santa no longer reads my mail. He sends it back postmarked "return to sender" :text-merryxmas:
...and you know that I just had to post this video 8)

Get a 734 instead. You won't regret it. The 733 will be too soft IMO

Frank. Get it right. It is not just a Calcutta. It is a Calcutta Conquest! Different reel all together...

I completely agree with Adam. I prefer a faster tip for spinner baits.
Then again some like the 733 for lighter spinnerbaits.
It all comes down to personal preference.

Hey,I'm just trying to help you out. You would be quite upset to receive a Calcutta D after using a Calcutta Conquest. There is a big different between silver and gold. :D

And as for the 734, I use it for 3/8 and up spinnerbaits. I suppose a 733 would be good for a 1/4, but I have never thrown anything that light in a Spinnerbait.

Both are great for spinnerbaits I use my 733 paired with braid for 3/8-1/2 blades, 734 paired with 17lb mono for 1/2-3/4oz blades. All depends how I'm fishing the bait, if you fish with braid and mostly 3/8-1/2 I'd highly recommend the 733, braid-softer rod=bingo. 734 I found I was pulling the bait away.

Same here. I rarely use anything below 3/8
The 734 is what I would recommend for spinner-baits.
